About Our Site
We get a lot of questions about our projects and our sites from their respective user bases, so we thought we'd better cover the most obvious questions straight off the bat.
Our site is written in a custom tiny framework for PHP (which isn't really a framework, as typically frameworks are usually not needed, large and annoying) but performs most of the leg work of building a site at any rate. This tiny base site will be released shortly under a BSD licence with a few snap-in modules to boot. Yes, we realise this is 'another' PHP base, but seriously, we think this one fills a little niche in the vastly over populated market.
As far as the design goes, it is (of course) totally CSS and XHTML based and we'll probably skin it with a CSS change when we next get some free time. The XHTML and CSS are both fully standards compliant, we adhere to the basic principles of accessible websites, and the site is damn quick with lots of fun features.
Another common question is 'why .pr?'. The long answer is that not many country specific TLD's allow one letter domain names, also we do a lot of public relations (PR) work. The short answer is that we just thought it sounded cool.
Oh, and we use and administrate our own server cluster running Debian Linux on Xen virtualised platforms and typically use Lighttpd for the web server daemon itself. Some pretty buttons are placed below if you like that kind if thing.
